Course contents

The Master’s programme is designed to equip students with complete and effective training with an international
dimension, so that they can be employed in a variety of sectors requiring expertise in accessibility, such as the the
media, the arts and culture. The Master’s syllabus includes the study of relevant national and international
legislation currently in force, types of disabilities, the languages of the arts and the media, as well as an exploration
of the full range of tools required to implement accessibility, classes, in-depth workshops, and practical sessions
held by national and international experts: directors, actors, producers, art directors, curators and museum
directors, media experts, legislators and trainers. The teaching staff also includes people with different sensory
abilities as well as lived experience of accessibility and inclusion needs. Students will therefore receive a
comprehensive and thorough training through theoretical and methodological sessions in English and practical
sessions available in English and Italian, within the framework of national and international standards, laws, and
projects. Students may also choose whether to carry out a work placement or project work (300 hours) to help
students kick-start their career in the fields of media, arts, and culture.

Classes are held between Mondays and Saturday, preferably on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. MondayFriday classes are held preferably from 2 pm to 8 pm CET; Saturday classes are held preferably from 9 am to 3
p.m. CET. Classes for each Module will run in monthly blocks. International students facing difficulties also due
to different time zones will be provided with the video recordings of some of the classes.

The main language of the programme is English. The theoretical components of the Master’s programme are in English while the practical components are available in two languages: English and Italian. Students will choose their working language when completing their application (either in English or in Italian). Applicants who are non-native speakers of English are expected to have a knowledge of this language at least at the B2 level of the CEFR.

Applicants should also have solid basic IT skills, and be familiar with the main tools for computer-mediated communication and Internet access, to work effectively in the online environment and be able to use the computer-based tools required by the different specialisms, following training provided by the lecturers.

A Committee appointed by the Head of the Humanities Department, upon proposal of the Director of the Master’s programme, will select candidates based on the evaluation of their qualifications. The Committee will assign each candidate a score on a 100-point scale, considering: Criteria Max. points 100/100 Curriculum Vitae 50 Studies and University degree evalutation/grade 30 Motivational letter (and report produced by the PA, if any)20

To partially cover the enrolment fee for the Master’s programme, INPS is making available three scholarships
amounting to €2,844 each for employees of Public Administrations (registered with the Unitary Management of
Credit and Social Benefits).
Upon confirmation of enrolment (by 05/04/2024), the winners of the scholarships must pay the regional tax for the
right to study of €140 (one hundred and forty euros) and the virtual stamp duty of €16 (sixteen euros).
The list of civil servants awarded the study grant (following the selection procedure as per art. 9 and after verification
of the requirements to obtain the grant) will be published both on the INPS institutional website in the specific section
reserved for the competition (link), and on the page https://studiumanistici.unimc.it/it/didattica/postlauream/master/AMAC_2023-24

Employment opportunities

The students will be prepared to operate in a variety of roles in different contexts: public and private institutions,
local and international organisations, festivals, foundations, museums, art venues and places of public interest,
companies working for cinema and television, broadcasting networks, associations promoting awareness of and
support for disabilities, monitoring organisations set up according to national and international legislation, etc.
Notes
If the minimum number of 15 students is not reached, the Master’s programme will not be started.
