Course contents

This Bachelor's Degree Programme aims to equip graduates with a good grounding in human and social sciences, enriched and completed with specific knowledge and skills in the field of social work theories, methods and techniques. The objective is to provide graduates with adequate skills to read and interpret typical phenomena of nowadays society as well as expertise to analyse the socio-economic and cultural context, necessary for social intervention and social work. For this purpose, intensive apprenticeships, led by supervising social workers, are included.

To access the degree programme, a basic understanding of Italian language and an understanding of English at level B1, at least, is required.
Other educational requirements
To be admitted to this Master's Degree Programme students must possess a proper individual educational background and the minimum curricular requirements.
A certified knowledge of English at minimum level B2 is also required.

Admission selection
The degree programme in Sciences of Society and Social Service is of limited admission and expect candidates to carry out a test that, as well as ensuring the possession of an adequate initial preparation, gives access to a list of admissions: registration is conditioned by the places available. All the specific information on the process of pre-registration, selection and matriculation are included in the call for application. For the Academic year 2022/23 the admissions procedure occurs as follows: - taking the TOLC-SU exam and online pre-registration to Ca’ Foscari selection; - ranking in the list of admission; - matriculation online and payment of the first installment of university fees. The process of taking the TOLC-SU test is as follows: - signing up for the test on the CISIA [ITA] website https://www.cisiaonline.it/area-tematica-tolc-cisia/home-tolc-generale/ - payment of the contribution to the university to the test equal to 30,00 Euros following the process indicated on the CISIA website when signing up for the TOLC-SU.

Employment opportunities

Bachelor's graduates are able to perform social work and intervention activities, operate on the territory on a network basis too and comply with roles and duties as defined in the social work professional profile.
Occupational fields provided for this professional profile may be: bodies, public administration, public and private organizations in which professional social work is required, non-governmental and third sector’s organizations. First Cycle graduates may have access to professional licensing examinations leading to registration on the Italian roll of social workers (section B) and, once the examination has been passed, they gain the qualification of social worker.
