Course contents

The course has a blended teaching method. The lectures will be in English and offer the following structure: 36 ECTS of computer science; 10 to 18 ECTS of legal and historical disciplines; 12 to 24 of humanities with strong linguistic prevalence and elements of computational linguistics; 12 to 18 of related disciplines also containing philosophical and psychological subjects; 8 to 12 ECTS of choice, 6 of internship (recommended), 6 of further knowledge and 18 of theses. The course prepares for the following professions: digital humanist and professional expert in the creation, implementation and management of textual corpora and in the exploitation of online languages; digital lexicographer, cultural communicator via the and expert of digital textuality, with reference to the following ISTAT outlets: 2.1.1.4 - Software analysts and designers (oriented to natural language processing and linguistic applications); 2.1.1.5.2 - Database analysts and designers; 2.5.4.4.1 - Linguists and philologists; 2.5.4.4.2 - Text reviewers; 2.5.4.1.4 - Editors of technical texts. The students of the course will organize their studies on the basis of two main profiles, the digital philologist and lexicologist (more oriented to the analysis of texts and language) and the expert in digital language technologies (more oriented to the management of corpora, their annotation and refinement as well as the creation of NLP tools). The course relies on the support of numerous institutional stakeholders (municipalities of Turin and Moncalieri), foundations (Fondazione 1563) and business and is unique in the Italian northwest, with its declared openness to an international perspective.
