The Doctoral Programme in Information Engineering and Computer Science operates within the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science.
The Doctoral programme delivers the skills necessary to conduct advanced research at universities, public bodies, or private organizations for the purpose of advancing scientific and technological progress and creating a managerial class with a high-level professional culture and a corresponding international openness. The specific objective of the doctorate programme is to train professionals able to develop high-quality and innovative information and telecommunication systems addressed to solving complex problems. It also pursues the goal of enhancing the doctoral students’ entrepreneurial abilities by furnishing specific training and opportunities to undertake internships. In general, professional growth is fostered within the following various areas of interest: Cyber Security; Data Intelligence; Deep and Structured Machine Learning; Embedded Intelligence and Robotics Systems; Language Speech and Interaction; Machine Learning and Intelligent OptimizatioN; Multimedia Signal Processing and Understanding; Next Generation Networks; Quantum Information and Computing; Remote and Distributed Sensing; Signal Processing and Recognition; Social Informatics; Software Engineering and Formal Methods; Systems and Networks; Wireless networking, sensing and localization.

The Doctoral Programme in Information Engineering and Computer Science encourages transdisciplinary programmes to pursue the promotion of cross-disciplinary research within the PhD programme, the training of PhD students with cross-disciplinary skills and the increase of collaborations with the other institutions.

The available transdisciplinary programmes are:
- “Space Data Science and Technology”, in collaboration with the Doctoral Programme of UniTrento in Physics; Materials, Mechatronics and Systems Engineering;
- “Quantum Science and Technologies”, in collaboration with the Doctoral Programmes of UniTrento, in: Physics; Mathematics; Materials, Mechatronics and Systems Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering; Industrial Innovation.

  • The provision of data marked with * is required for the assistance service requested by the user, which is why the failure to provide such data prevents the provision of the above service offered by the AlmaLaurea Interuniversity Consortium;
  • The data provided, pursuant to art. 6, 1st paragraph, lett. b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, are processed only as strictly necessary for the fulfilment of this service and are stored for the time strictly necessary for the provision of the assistance, in any case for a period not exceeding 12 months after the fulfilment of the request.

Recipients or categories of recipients of personal data:

  • For the provision of the service specified above, the data you provided may be transmitted to other parties (e.g. CINECA) appointed to provide technological support, as data processors. The list of data processors of the data for which the AlmaLaurea Interuniversity Consortium is data controller is published at www.almalaurea.it/info/condizioni/privacy.

Rights of data subjects:

  • You can exercise the rights granted to you by current legislation on the protection of personal data, including the right to ask the data controller to access your personal data and to correct or erase them, restrict or object to processing of your data, in addition to the right of data portability within the limits of the provisions of art. 15-21 of Regulation the 2016/679;
  • Pursuant to art. 77 of the Regulation, if you believe that the processing of your data violates the legislation on the protection of personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority or the control authority of the EU Member State in which you usually reside, work or the place where the alleged violation occurred;
