Course contents

The Specializing Master's programme (1st level) in Technologies for International Development Cooperation is a pioneering academic venture, born from the joint efforts of the Turin School of Development of the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC-ILO) and the Politecnico di Torino.

The Master is addressed to project managers, officers, experts in Multilateral Cooperation and International Affairs, entrepreneurs, professionals and researchers in international organizations and sector-specific associations, aiming to broaden and enhance their knowledge and skills in managing complex projects, integrating new technologies and leading high-impact initiatives. It uses state-of-the-art technology to prepare them to tackle complex global challenges and transform innovative ideas into tangible, real-world solutions. At the heart of the joint programme is the intersection of technological innovation, global development and international cooperation. The curriculum aims to strategically address the growing need for knowledge and expertise on emerging technologies, their potential to trigger change and the impacts of their implementation on all dimensions of sustainability at the global level. The essence of the programme lies in the belief that technology can be a powerful tool to foster positive global change, to promote inclusive development and to advancing global development cooperation. The programme combines aspects of vision, approach and method, with technicalscientific ones, focusing on five thematic areas (and their intersections) which are considered strategic in the transition towards just and sustainable development: - land and agriculture: dealing with the growing complexity of the agricultural and food system and the implications for land and water resources. - energy and green transition, providing key insights on the challenges and the opportunities that the green transition presents, framed in the international dimension - urban innovation, addressing the multiple and interconnected challenges of cities, whose future will be largely driven by social and technological innovation. - digital technologies, analysing both the regulatory and technical aspects of digital standards which are suitable to boost development - health and social security, identifying the challenges of implementing technologybased public health programmes in resource-limited settings, to address health inequalities and promote sustainable development practices. The course carefully balances theoretical knowledge with practical application, encouraging students to interact, discuss real case studies and engage critically. This programme is not just an academic journey, but a commitment to join a global community focused on international development, offering unique opportunities to interact with cutting-edge technologies and a vibrant network of experts, professionals and academics.
