Course contents

Il Master ha lo scopo di fornire a laureati di diverse discipline le competenze necessarie per un corretto approccio scientifico allo studio di fenomeni biologici e medici, fornendo le competenze necessarie per la pianificazione, conduzione, analisi e interpretazione di studi biomedici.

Obiettivi specifici

- rispondere al crescente fabbisogno formativo di laureati in diverse discipline competenti nell’applicazione di metodologie;
- statistiche ed epidemiologiche appropriate in campo biologico e clinico per la conoscenza dei problemi di salute della popolazione e una miglior finalizzazione degli interventi preventivi, assistenziali e riabilitativi;
- educare al pensiero critico e alla valutazione dell’evidenza sperimentale;
- completare la formazione acquisita negli specifici corsi di laurea, fornendo figure professionali in grado di collaborare con esperti di altre discipline per un approccio interdisciplinare alla ricerca biologica e medica.

Il biostatistico è un operatore professionale che è qualificato per lo svolgimento di funzioni di progettazione, gestione, analisi e interpretazione statistica e valutazione di studi sperimentali, indagini osservazionali e sistemi di monitoraggio e sorveglianza nei campi della biologia, della veterinaria, delle biotecnologie, delle scienze ambientali e della medicina preventiva, clinica e riabilitativa.

Il Master ha un forte carattere pratico di casi di real world. Agli studenti è fornita gratuitamente la licenza perpetua di uno dei maggiori software
per la manipolazione dei dati per la biomedicina e l'epidemiologia.

Agli iscritti saranno proposti seminari su argomenti specifici tenuti da esperti nazionali ed internazionali del settore.

I soci della Società Italiana di Statistica Medica ed Epidemiologia Clinica (SISMEC), che abbiano superato la relativa selezione ove prevista, potranno iscriversi al Master con una riduzione del 20% sulla quota di iscrizione.

Sul piano dei contesti occupazionali, la figura del biostatistico opera ed è richiesta:

- nelle aziende del settore farmaceutico;
- negli istituti di ricerca biologica e farmacologica;
- nelle aziende ospedaliere e negli istituti di ricovero e cura a carattere scientifico;
- nei comitati etici, nelle aziende sanitarie locali;
- nelle agenzie ambientali e sanitarie e nelle strutture sanitarie.

Sul piano delle attività di ricerca e di servizio, le competenze biostatistiche sono richieste nella ricerca biologica, farmacologica e preclinica, nella sperimentazione e nella ricerca clinica, nelle indagini epidemiologiche e nelle attività di gestione e governo della sanità.
