Course contents

Obiettivi formativi del Master: Il Master si pone come principale obiettivo la formazione di figure professionali specializzate nel monitoraggio delle strutture e delle infrastrutture. Il monitoraggio e la diagnostica, basati su analisi appropriate dei dati misurati in situ, rappresentano le fasi essenziali per la valutazione dell'attuale capacità di una struttura o infrastruttura di assolvere correttamente alle funzioni progettuali previste. Nell'ambito della moderna ingegneria strutturale questi sono strumenti fondamentali per la gestione del ciclo di vita "design-to-pension" dei sistemi strutturali. Altro obiettivo rilevante del Master è fornire competenze nell’ambito delle strategie e delle tecniche di riabilitazione e rinforzo strutturale, eventualmente da adottare in relazione ai risultati delle fasi sopra descritte.
L’impianto generale dell’offerta formativa è inteso a fornire conoscenze interdisciplinari nelle quattro macro aree: (A) comportamento meccanico delle strutture, (B) diagnostica e monitoraggio, (C) modellazione e analisi, (D) criteri di intervento e manutenzione. Le intersezioni e l'integrazione dei contenuti didattico-scientifici pertinenti a queste aree sono essenziali per acquisire le competenze necessarie alla formazione di esperti nel campo del monitoraggio, della diagnostica e dell’analisi di strutture e infrastrutture, quali ponti, viadotti, gallerie, tunnel, etc..
Il primo gruppo di moduli didattici (7 CFU) mira a fornire agli allievi le necessarie basi per comprendere il comportamento qualitativo di elementi strutturali, strutture e infrastrutture sia in regime statico, sia dinamico, con particolare riferimento a ponti, viadotti, gallerie e annesse opere geotecniche. Allo stesso tempo, si introducono i concetti e gli strumenti metodologici per la valutazione della sicurezza e robustezza delle costruzioni esistenti.
La seconda parte del corso di Master (14 CFU) è dedicata ad approfondire i temi della diagnostica e del monitoraggio. Vengono fornite nozioni teoriche riguardanti la teoria dei segnali e le tecniche di elaborazione degli stessi, nonché indicazioni sul funzionamento della strumentazione tradizionale e avanzata per l’esecuzione del monitoraggio strutturale: reti di sensori, robotica mobile, rilievo geomatico, rappresentazione digitale 3D. Si introducono, inoltre, le principali tecniche per la sperimentazione in laboratorio e in situ di materiali e strutture.
Segue una terza parte (9 CFU) dedicata alle metodologie di modellazione e analisi, intesa a introdurre e descrivere le tecniche computazionali per il calcolo automatico delle strutture, con particolare riferimento al metodo degli elementi finiti e alla costruzione e aggiornamento dei modelli FEM, alle tecniche di identificazione statica e dinamica, ai modelli per la descrizione del danno e delle anomalie del funzionamento strutturale, e ai principali metodi per la diagnostica strutturale.
Il corso si chiude con l’ultimo gruppo di moduli (8 CFU) che tratta i temi dell’affidabilità strutturale, del danneggiamento nelle infrastrutture, della gestione e manutenzione delle medesime e, infine, la descrizione dei metodi di valutazione della vulnerabilità e delle tecniche di rinforzo e riabilitazione strutturale sia tradizionali, sia innovative.
Per lo svolgimento dei corsi e l’organizzazione delle attività formative, il Master si avvale:
a) delle competenze didattiche e scientifiche, nei campi di base e applicativi delle discipline inerenti gli obiettivi del Master, presenti nelle Facoltà di Architettura e di Ingegneria Civile e Industriale di Sapienza Università di Roma;
b) degli specifici apporti di esperti e operatori di provata e documentata esperienza che svolgono la loro attività nell’ambito della diagnostica, del monitoraggio e della gestione di strutture e infrastrutture pubbliche e private.
