Course contents

The Ph.D. programme in Linguistics is an international graduate programme jointly run by the Universities of Verona, Bozen/Bolzano and Marburg (Germany). We provide courses at the graduate level for all levels of linguistic analysis (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, lexicon). Ph.D. projects can be carried out in all these fields and also in the fields of sociolinguistics, dialogue, discourse and conversation analysis, typical and atypical language development, computational linguistics, Germanic and Romance philology. Specific research interests shared by the three universities regard language contact, German and Romance dialects, minority languages, and multilingualism. Ph.D. students will participate in research projects carried out at the three universities and in cooperation with other research institutions. Languages of instruction are English (main language), German and Italian.

Classes, lectures, seminars etc. of the tracks in Foreign Literatures and Cultures and Foreign Languages and Translation will be held in Italian and English, and additionally, in the languages of the Ph.D. projects (French, Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese). All classes of the Linguistics track will be taught in English.
