Course contents

The Course focuses on the design and development of complex systems and networks, in which the problems of the telecommunication area merge with those of information technology, in order to keep up with the new technological challenges for which the boundary between 'physical' and 'virtual' tends to blur and the different areas of ICT include technologies enabling innovation in a strictly integrated manner (think of concepts such as the Internet of Things, smart city, embedded systems). This objective requires an in-depth study of issues framed in the context of telecommunications, for aspects related to the (wired or wireless) transmission of information and communication technologies and protocols, but also issues related to distributed IT systems and security. information technology, giving attention also to several application domains (for example, smart city and intelligent transportation systems).
This way, the course offers a degree in a leading sector of the current production scenario by combining different skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and defining a professional figure with transversal skills able to face the rapid process of renewal of the information society.
