Help section: how to consult data sheets

For a better understanding of the data, please see our methodological notes.

  • Menu bar. A menu bar is displayed on the upper side of the page. It enables you to access this help section, print the sheet, generate pdf and export the displayed data into another format that is adequate for the data elaboration on electronic sheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel). Moreover, it enables you to display particular sections of the sheet just by clicking on the corresponding link (e.g., “1. Investigated cohort”).
  • PRINTING. This command enables you to print the data displayed. To facilitate the printing procedure, we advice you to set the page orientation to landscape by accessing the printing options of your browser. If you want to print sheets having a high number of columns, the use of "horizontal paging" will be adequate. To help the browser to find the right section of the page that you want to print, we would advice you to use the "print" function displayed within the header.
  • GENERATE PDF. This command enables you to open and save the data to a pdf file. When the number of columns of the sheet is high, we suggest you to use the “horizontal paging”.
  • EXPORT DATA. This command enables you to export the data to an electronic sheet in csv format. You can choose the most adequate column separator (e.g., semicolon, comma, full stop and tabulation). The string identifier (single, double quotation marks) is useful for a correct export of the sheet: the entire text included between two identifier chars is exported as a single value, even if it includes a separator char. For example, if the separator is a comma (,) and the string identifier is the double quotation mark (“), the value “54,7” will be correctly exported in just one cell. If no identifier is specified, the value will be divided into two adjoining cells, such as 54 and 7. If required it is also possible to define the decimal point (for example the dot "." or comma ",").
  • Notes to reading. For a better understanding of the data, next to some items of the sheet there is an icon that displays appropriate information relating the indicators (definitions, etc.). For further information about the characteristics of the survey, please see the methodological notes.
  • Column order. If the sheet has more than 5 columns, you can order data by choosing any of the proposed items in row. If you want to arrange the columns in ascending order, just click on the corresponding row header. If you click again, the columns are arranged in descending order. To facilitate the reading, the cells of the row which has been taken into consideration for arranging the columns will receive a colour gradation ranging from white (minimum value) to yellow (maximum value). If you want to go back to the initial state of the sheet, a page refresh can be done by clicking on the specific button of the menu bar, for example the menu bar of Internet Explorer, or by pressing F5.
  • Horizontal paging. This paging is displayed when the number of columns of the sheet is high, for example in case of breakdown by university. For each data section and in the column header are available some links which enable you to display the disaggregation columns in groups of five. Moreover, a button with the function to go back to the complete display of the sheet is also available. This function is also useful for better printing the sheets having many columns or their visualisation in pdf format.
  • Change. This command enables you to perform a new search by changing the selection criteria or making a different choice in comparison columns.
